Back by popular demand! This documentary offers an overview of the Ottomans, who ruled three continents for six centuries, and explains how the decline of the Ottoman Empire throughout the nineteenth century and up to 1925 informs current politics. All of the region’s modern nations were born from the collapse of the empire, orchestrated by the superpowers of the day, France and Great Britain. Today’s political, religious, and ethnic challenges in Bosnia, Kosovo, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Palestine, and Iraq are discussed in interviews with historians and experts. Illustrated by archival imagery, The End of the Ottoman Empire tells the essential backstory of our world today.
