These images of war, recorded in 1956–57 in the Aurès region, are shown from the perspective of the National Liberation Army (ALN) and meant to foster dialogue toward peace. A landmark of Algerian national cinema, the film was immediately circulated all over the world, except in France, where it was screened for the first time in 1968, in the occupied Sorbonne.
