Guided Tour: Museums in Cinema
Description:

Jem Cohen’s films are often shot on the street, as he observes the world through his camera lens. With Museum Hours, he portrays Vienna, but also moves inside its Kunsthistorisches Museum to tell a story of two strangers who come to know each other, a museum guard and a Canadian woman visiting the city. Slowly, over time, the artworks of the museum facilitate their growing friendship, even “participate” in their conversations. “Museum Hours is a film about seeing, and a tribute to how art sharpens our perception of the world around us. . . . An ode to museums” (Cinema Scope).
