Description:

When Ady, a thirteen-year-old boy living in the Lyon suburbs, gets out of hand, his father entrusts him to his uncle Amadao in a remote village in Burkina Faso. Ady is excited to visit the homeland—until he realizes that he is trapped there indefinitely, under his uncle’s strict rules, expected to act as a man. His eventual initiation to adulthood is subtle; under his loving grandmother’s guidance, his materialism is replaced by an appreciation for his roots.
