Notes
  • Hitomi de la Fuente comments that, "Murayama's 15th film was a big box office hit, taking advantage of the audience's nostalgia for the war, the memory of which was still fresh in people's minds. The film was the beginning of a series of films on military themes by Murayama. Ah Etajima obviously romanticizes the war and the men who had given their lives in it; the characters are stereotypical and much of the dialogue is mannered."
