women in contemporary society. Novella Nelson performs a
song. Loretta Abbott performs a dance. Nikki Giovanni
reads a poem and interviews Lena Horne. A young girl, Kali,
reads her poetry. In the Correspondents journal segment,
George Martin reports on Women's Day at the Shrine of the
Black Madonna in Detroit with commentary by Rev. Albert
Cleage, Jr. and a poem by Sonia Sanchez. Roberta Flack
performs a song. Background photographs in the program are
by Chester Higgins.
