The program begins in the 300 Club in New York where Al Hirt plays two sets, Georgia on my mind and Paris in the springtime. Quincy Jones is in the audience talking to his friend, "Pete Clay," a songwriter and musician who has broken up with his girlfriend. Pete joins Quincy on his tour to Japan. Their plane touches down in Sydney, Australia where Waltzing Matilda is briefly heard. Quincy and Pete do some sightseeing in Tokyo and then visit the rehearsal studio. There Quincy, at the piano, rehearses Old black magic with Nobuo Hara and his Sharps and Flats. Later that night at a nightclub Nobuo and his group perform two sets, Apple honey and Night in Tunisia. Quincy joins them at the piano for Taste of honey. Quincy Jones plays trumpet in a duet with the koto player, Kazuko Inano, in Blues for trumpet and koto. "Pete Clay" sings Where or when with Quincy at the piano. There are some night scenes in Tokyo and Pete returns to his hotel's nightclub where he finds his lost girlfriend, "Lori," performing a song he wrote, No more talk. They are reunited and the program ends back 520 in the New York with Al Hirt performing When the saints go marching in. 538 U-matic NTSC. 590 PFA 0750-01-13333. |aCONDITION NOTE: Last checked: 2008/05 /27 good condition. 650 0 Jazz|vDrama. 655 7 Television.|2mim 655 7 Music.|2mim 690 0 Japanese films. 700 1 Buckridge, Ken. 700 1 Ogiwara, Keiich. 700 1 Nakagawa, Harunosuke. 700 1 Tsuburaya, Hajime. 700 1 Namiki, Akira. 700 1 Selden, Geoffrey. 700 1 Suzuki, Domei. 700 1 Lawrence, Allan. 700 1 Komatsu, Tatsuro. 700 1 George, Anthony,|d1921-2005. 700 1 Jones, Quincy,|d1933- 700 1 Barrett, Susan. 700 1 Brown, Pat. 700 1 Hirt, Al,|d1922-1999. 700 1 Hara, Nobuo. 700 1 Inano, Kazuko. 710 2 Sharps and Flats (Musical group) 710 2 Quincy Jones International All Stars (Musical group) 710 2 Geoffrey Selden Associates. 710 2 Tōkyō Hōsō. 730 02 No more talk. 730 02 Georgia on my mind. 730 02 Paris in the springtime. 730 02 Waltzing Matilda. 730 02 Old black magic. 730 02 Apple honey. 730 02 Night in Tunisia. 730 02 Blues for trumpet and koto. 730 02 Taste of honey. 730 02 Where or when. 730 02 When the saints go marching in. 935 GLADN51144436 941 0 PFA 0750-01-13333.
