511 0 Danced and choreographed by Daniel Nagrin; accompanist,
Sylvia Marshall.
520 A dancer and pianist arrive at a dance rehearsal studio to
rehearse. Before beginning, the dancer (Nagrin) looks
sentimentally at a seashell he finds in his rehearsal bag.
As the dance begins, Clarke intercuts the same dance as
shot in the studio and on a beach. The two geographies are
merged into a third plane, with the seashell seen at the
beginning perhaps representing the dancer's memory. After
the dance, Nagrin and the accompanist share a smoke and
begin to discuss the performance, providing a sense of a
return to reality. The film abruptly cuts them off.
