Solar photography is intercut and superimposed with science footage of blood flowing through capillaries, Stan's wife Jane naked, and closeups of Stan's face. The Brakhages are represented as the symbolic man and woman. They are shown making love, with the image of a baby following shortly after. The metaphor of creation is further elaborated by the filmmaker's visible physical scratching and painting on the film.
