His uncle leaves to play cards, but upon leaving he asks Homer to make a batch of doughnuts once he fixes the machine. Left alone, Homer receives two customers; one is a rich lady who insists on making her recipe for doughnuts. She makes ten pounds of batter and Homer empties it all into the machine. The automatic doughnut machine spits out doughnuts in rapid succession. The woman returns, saying she has lost her diamond bracelet, and it becomes apparent that the bracelet has been baked in one of the doughnuts. Homer makes a sign offering $100 reward to whoever finds the bracelet. Soon the doughnuts are gobbled up and the bracelet found.--Duanna Fullwiley, 8/94. 520 A story about Homer's resourcefulness, telling how he saves the day when Uncle Ulysses' automatic doughnut machine won't turn off. 541 0 PFA 1612-01-5080.
