520 This film, approved by the American College of Surgeons,
illustrates congenital malformation of the heart in three
forms: abdominal, cervical, and pectoral, then shows live
footage of an infant with a pectoral heart and its
"monstrosity" twin. Shots include: labelling lack of
sternum, diaphragm covering liver, umbilicus, cleft palate,
and hare lip; application of warm salt water to heart,
electrocardiograph tracing eight hours before death, X-
rays and post-mortems of both infants, and the judgement
that some cervical or abdominal heart patients survive,
but most succumb soon after birth.
