520 This parodic music video employs cultural clichés and
Reagan-era political advertising strategies to lampoon the
myths of the Wild West, the American Dream, and Manifest
Destiny. Performance artist Michael Smith's alter ego,
mild-mannered "regular guy" Mike, embodies a series of all
-American male stereotypes, including college prep, cowboy,
and real estate developer. In this modern tale of rugged
individualism, Mike pulls himself up by the bootstraps,
encouraged by a musical chorus to "Go for it!"
