middle class family in San Francisco shot in 1931. Family

older women eating outdoors. 01:09 Couple gardening in

dog with ball; kitten with balloon; women in lawn chairs;

departing with streamers. [SS Malolo was an American
cruise liner built in 1936 for the Matson Line which did
much to develop tourism in the Hawaiian Islands. It
featured first-class luxury service between San Francisco,

annual event sponsored by the San Francisco Junior Chamber
of Commerce. It appears to have been an event used to
promote business and commerce associated with San
Francisco's harbor.] 07:18 Title: Harbor Day and "Sunny
Jim Rolph." [Sunny Jim Rolph was mayor of San Francisco
from 1912 to 1931and governor of California from 1931-
1934. The official name of the Bay Bridge is the James
"Sunny Jim" Rolph Bridge.] 07:22 Mounted policemen; parade

hats; Shriners. 08:24 Title: "Post Gatty." Car with Gatt
sign. [This refers to Harold Gatty and Wiley Post who
circumnavigated the world in a Lockheed Vega airplane on
June 23-July 1, 1931 setting a record 8 days, 15 hours, 51
minutes. Presumably it is Howard Gatty in the car.] Float

Marching band. Float: We are advertising Blindcraft, 1097
Howard Street. [Blindcraft was the trademark of the San
Francisco Association for the Blind. The unique society
was started by a woman in 1902, directed by women, managed
by a woman. The workers of Blindcraft Building made
baskets, brooms, reed and rattan furniture and rugs.]
