A woman who loves music and poetry is suffocating in the stultifying atmosphere of a provincial town and a marriage to a vulgar merchant husband. Instead of opening out the play by use of locations, Dulac turned to a sustained exploration of Madame Beudet's inner life through an array of stylistic devices to convey Madame Beudet's imaginative world, an objectification of subjective feelings through the power of association. 538 VHS NTSC. 546 French intertitles. 562 Shortened (38 min.) version of motion picture which originally was 54 min. 590 PFA 0500-01-11634. |aCONDITION NOTE: Last checked: 2011/03 /17 Excellent condition. 655 7 Shorts.|2mim 655 7 Adaptations.|2mim 655 7 Personal/independent works.|2mim 690 French films. 690 Silent films. 700 1 Dulac, Germaine,|d1882-1942,|edirection,|ewriting. 700 1 Delac, Charles,|eproduction. 700 1 Vandal, Marcel,|eproduction. 700 1 Obey, André,|d1892-1975,|ewriting. 700 1 Denys, Amiel.|tSouriante Madame Beudet. 700 1 Foster, Maurice,|ecamera/lighting. 700 1 Parguel, Paul,|ecamera/lighting. 700 1 Dermoz, Germaine,|d1888-1966,|ecast. 700 1 Arquillière, Alexandre,|d1870-1953,|ecast. 700 1 Yd, Jean d',|d1880-1964,|ecast. 700 1 Grisier, Yvette,|ecast. 700 1 Guitty, Madeleine,|d1870-1936,|ecast. 700 1 Paoli, Raoul,|ecast. 710 2 Colisée Films. 710 2 Museum of Modern Art (New York, N.Y.) 941 0 PFA 0500-01-11634.
