520 Filmed on super 8 on the lake at Preston Institute of
Technology, this is a performance art tape derived from
two works - "The Boatman" and the "Eye of the Witness"
installed and performed at the First Australian Sculpture
Triennial in Melbourne (1981). It is not a simple record
of these works but develops special links between a range
of elements as diverse as undersea caves, blowholes, rocks
cast from polyester resin, the Governor General, feelings
of apprehension, relief, a stack of sandbags in a lake,
rowing and the tidal ebb and flow.
