The steamer Dixie leaves New York and arrives in New Orleans with scenes of French Quarter patios, the Court of the Two Sisters, St. Louis Cathedral, the Cabildo, Chalmette and Mardi Gras. From there the train goes through Houston (Houston Ship Channel, Rice Institute), Galveston, San Antonio (the Alamo, Mission Espada, Mission San Jose, Mission Concepcion, Kelly Field), El Paso/Juarez (the Juzgad, Mission Guadalupe, monument to Benito Juarez). The passengers leave the train at Globe and take a trail coach on the Apache Trail (Roosevelt Lake and Dam, Apache Lake, Tonto Cliff dwellings, Horse Mesa Dam, Canyon Lake, Superstition Mountain). The train is reboarded at Phoenix and on to California (Palm Springs, San Jacinto Mountains, orange groves, the Mission Inn at Riverside, residences in Pasadena, the Arroyo Seco Bridge). In Los Angeles, the tourists view Los Angeles Harbor, homes in Long Beach, Signal Hill, homes in Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and an ostrich farm. They are then offered a choice of the Coast Line or the Valley Line. The Coast Line goes through Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara Mission, downtown area), along the 520 Pacific Ocean, Mission San Miguel, Del Monte and the 17- mile drive, the Spanish Custom House in Monterey. The Valley Line goes to Yosemite and then on to San Francisco via Oakland and a ferry across the Bay. The journey ends in San Francisco with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. 546 Silent with English intertitles. 590 PFA 3500-01-11664. |aCONDITION NOTE: Last checked: 2003/8/ 8 excellent, brand new polyester print; some problems with focus and movement of image due to the condition of original 590 PFA 3500-01-11562. |aCONDITION NOTE: Last checked: 2003/12 /18 excellent, brand new polyester print; some focus and movement of image as a result of condition of original print that preservation was done from CONDITION NOTE: Last checked: October 20, 2005 same. 610 20 Southern Pacific Railroad Company. 650 0 Railroads|zUnited States|xHistory. 651 0 West (U.S.)|xDescription and travel. 655 7 Travelogues.|2mim 655 7 Shorts.|2mim 690 Silent films. 710 2 Southern Pacific Railroad Company. 935 GLADN151948476 941 0 PFA 3500-01-11664.
