"Animated dissection," in Soho weekly news, May 20, 1976 520 Handwritten titles introduce the sections in this film. The first announces "Emily plays soccer with Amos." With a soundtrack of a harmonica playing and a dog whining, the outlines of drawn squares appear. Rotoscope outlines of a girl (Breer's daughter Emily) and a dog running appear against a background of geometric forms and magazine text collages which have been xeroxed. The next title is "Amos chases a stick," in which the rotoscoped dog does so. "Frannie's plate and cup" shows the outline of a plate intercut with the dog and stick. With "Julie plays basketball," squares, triangles, and circles bounce around Julie playing basketball. In "Rubber cement," a rubber cement bottle appears, its brush coming out seemingly on its own. Felix the Cat runs across the screen, followed by a brief xerox collage of newspaper and magazine texts. An airplane flying overhead is both heard on the soundtrack and seen rotoscoped in the image. A mixture of Felix, the plane and the dog are roughly scribbled in what appears to be crayon while the soundtrack consists of random radio and household sounds. At the end of the film, the outlines of boxes or squares--perhaps representing a house--travel across the frame. 541 0 PFA 1604-01-2769.
