Emile de Antonio (1919-1989) was one of America's most influential political and avant-garde filmmakers, who started by making documentary films in the mid-1950s. His often-controversial work focuses on the United States during the Cold War and sharply criticizes American institutions and government officials. Films on Joseph McCarthy, Richard Nixon, and the conduct of the Vietnam War led to de Antonio's becoming the object of FBI surveillance. De Antonio was also involved with the New York art world of the 1960s, which he documented in Painters painting. 538 DVD; NTSC; all regions; stereo. 590 PFA 0230-01-14041. |aCONDITION NOTE: Last checked: 2010/02 /10 Excellent condition. 600 10 De Antonio, Emile|vInterviews. 650 0 Motion picture producers and directors|zUnited States |vInterviews. 650 0 Independent filmmakers|zUnited States|vInterviews. 655 7 Television.|2mim 655 7 Talk shows.|2mim 655 7 Documentaries and factual works.|2mim 700 1 De Antonio, Emile. 700 1 Carpenter, Edmund,|d1922-2011. 700 1 Gardner, Robert,|d1925-2014 710 2 WCVB-TV (Television station : Boston, Mass.) 710 2 Studio 7 Arts (Firm) 710 2 Documentary Educational Resources (Firm) 730 02 Point of order (Motion picture : 1964)--excerpts. 730 02 Rush to judgment (Motion picture : 1967)--excerpts. 730 02 In the year of the pig (Motion picture : 1968)--excerpts. 730 02 Millhouse--a white comedy (Motion picture : 1971)-- excerpts. 946 PFA 0230-01-14041.
