520 In the first part of this film South Vietnamese women talk
about life, politics, feminism and women's liberation in
post-war Vietnam. They also talk about their memories of
the war years and the period of so-called "re-education."
Some of them recall stories of famous heroines and female
literary figures of Vietnam's past. The second part of the
film focuses on Vietnamese women who chose to flee from
their homeland to the United States at the end of the war.
They tell of their experiences as refugees and the
difficult adjustments as well as the success they have had
in the United States.
