520 A film adaptation of three short stories: "The black cat,"
"Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether," and "The suicide club." A
scientist murders his wife and conceals her corpse behind
a cellar wall. The cat he accidentally entombed meows and
reveals her body to a good samaritan who heard her screams
and came to the house to offer help. He flees and runs
into an asylum, where he feigns insanity and is taken in
as a patient. The scientist later imprisons the asylum
wardens, releases the patients, and takes charge of the
institution. He turns the asylum into a suicide club, but
he is finally captured after a dramatic confrontation with
the reporter who has been pursuing him.
