520 Video Free America is a media arts collective founded by
Skip Sweeney and Arthur Ginsberg in San Francisco in 1970.
The first 40 min. of the tape shows Skip Sweeney, Doug
McKechnie on the moog synthesizer and Bill Hearn on his
invention, the Vidium, creating television feedback
experiments. The next 20 min. documents a concert given by
Buffy Sainte-Marie on the Embarcadero in San Francisco to
raise money and awareness of the Native American
occupation of Alcatraz Island. The last 3 min. features a
march through Golden Gate Park with members of the Hari
Krishna movement.
