500 Literal title translation: A prayer for our love to the
stars.
500 Patricia Allemann comments that "Shima's 86th film is
undistinguished and the plot sentimental. Although Shima
grazes such topics as societal attitudes toward women, he
refuses to delve deeply into any, resulting in an almost
total lack of psychological insight. This combined with a
certain emphasis on trivial detail, makes for a thinly
composed, superficial film."
