520 The whale concerts is an evolving performance piece. In
her three-part "inter-media performance piece," Gray draws
humorous connections between submarine adventures,
Antarctic exploration, and her own illness and survival.
The piece incorporates elements of historical and
mythological storytelling, personal history, literary
excerpts, recorded whale songs, and live and recorded
music. This tape contains excerpts from Part 1: Whale
Watching in Carnegie Hall and Part 2: Subversion.
