Noted film historian Anthony Slide, author of the new book Silent Players, returns to PFA with two evenings of programs celebrating silent film actresses. As both an author and raconteur, Slide approaches his subject from his unique perspective of having known many of the actors and actresses he writes about. Silent Players contains insightful portraits of some extraordinary figures in early cinema, from leading ladies and men to famous extras. On Friday evening, prior to his talk on Alice Joyce, Anthony Slide will sign copies of Silent Players, which can be purchased at the event.
