Lectures by Russell Merritt
Film 50 will survey a century of international cinema, looking at major film styles and genres, including German Expressionism, Italian Neorealism, American Film Noir, the French New Wave, and more recent film movements that defy easy categorization. Lectures will consider the social context from which the films emerge, how movies connect with other arts, and how they are a distinct form of expression.
