Black Life: Star Amerasu
Black Life presents a multimedia performance by Star Amerasu featuring live singing, dancing, video presentation, and a special TRANSmission from outer space. Amerasu’s work as a singer-songwriter and transdisciplinary artist is a heady, beat-driven pastiche that pulls equally from influences like the tenderness of early Björk, queer and trans history, meme culture, and apocalyptic AI discourse.
Star Amerasu is a dynamic artist whose talents shine as a writer, composer, and director. Known by the moniker Ah-Mer-Ah-Su, she made waves in the music industry at twenty-one, composing for the acclaimed documentary Major! about transgender activist Miss Major. Her debut album, Star, was celebrated as one of Billboard’s top 20 LGBT albums in 2018. In 2023 the OUTFEST LA LGBTQ film festival recognized her as a multidisciplinary artist-in-residence. Amerasu, a San Francisco Film School graduate, dazzles audiences with her diverse projects. Her short film After Hours premiered at the Frameline Film Festival in 2024. Her music, film, theater, and DJ performances continue to captivate global audiences. In 2025 her imagination soared on social media, where her viral videos of alternate future characters from 2099 delighted fans. Her boundless passion for creativity transforms art through every medium she explores—writing, composing, directing, and DJing.
