CineSpin: Chess Fever, Un chien Andalou, and The Cage
Free Admission
Join the BAMPFA Student Committee for our exciting annual silent film and live music event, CineSpin. This year enjoy a program of three short films accompanied by original music by UC Berkeley student musicians. Third-year music major and pianist Owen Klein crafts dynamic scores to Nikolai Shpikovsky and Vsevolod Pudovkin’s 1925 silent comedy Chess Fever, a tale of love and chess, and Sidney Peterson’s 1947 experimental thriller The Cage, in which an eyeball escapes its socket and embarks on an exhilarating chase through San Francisco. Jazz and classical duo Stephanie Zavala-Lemarroy and Liam Joyce accompany Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí’s 1929 surrealist shocker Un chien Andalou. You will not want to miss this unique program of great films and stunning performances.
