First-Person Cinema with Ute Aurand: Program 2

  • In Person

Ute Aurand’s joyous triptych A Walk/ Im Park/ ZUOZ was filmed in Switzerland, on a walk in Engadin and Bergell; at the park of the Rietberg Museum in Zurich; and while ice skating in the village of Zuoz. Filmed in the Alhambra, Marie Menken’s spirited Arabesque for Kenneth Anger shows her love of Moorish architecture, motion, and editing. Margaret Tait’s Portrait of Ga is an enchanting love poem to her mother. Aurand’s Maria and the World captures glimpses of rural landscape, the subject’s home life, her books, and everyday existence. For a year at monthly intervals, Aurand and co-filmmaker Bärbel Freund filmed In the Garden, a lovely portrait of a Potsdam-Bornim garden designed in 1910 by gardener and philosopher Karl Foerster.
