Nicholas de Monchaux: Local Code

UC Berkeley Associate Professor of Architecture Nicholas de Monchaux reads from and signs his groundbreaking new book Local Code: 3659 Proposals About Data, Design, and the Nature of Cities. Given that the world’s cities will double in size by 2050, design is increasingly urban design. And given that as much data is now produced almost every day as throughout human history up to 2007, architecture is increasingly information architecture. Framing these inescapable realities, de Monchaux presents a collection of digital tools and design prototypes for understanding and transforming the physical, social, and ecological resilience of cities.
