Poetry Reading: Ashia Ajani, Nia McAllister, and open mic

Programmed by Thea Matthews

Ashia Ajani is a lecturer in the African American Studies Department at UC Berkeley and a climate-resilient schools educator with Mycelium Youth Network. Their debut poetry collection, Heirloom, is out now.

Nia McAllister is an award-winning poet, writer, and environmental justice advocate working at the intersection of art, activism, and public engagement. She is senior public programs manager at The Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) in San Francisco and is a recipient of the 2023 San Francisco Foundation/Nomadic Press Literary Award.

We will also host a short open mic for local poets to read their work.

Airea D. Matthews, originally scheduled, is unable to attend.
