Updated Thursday, March 19:
As concerns deepen about the coronavirus (COVID-19), BAMPFA is committed to doing our part to reduce the spread of this illness. We are complying with directives issued by the City of Berkeley Health Officer and other Bay Area public health authorities to implement “Shelter in Place” protocols for the museum and its staff. BAMPFA’s art galleries, store, and cafe will be inaccessible during this period, and our film screenings, tours, and public programs have been discontinued through April 30.
BAMPFA is monitoring the latest guidance from public health officials and UC Berkeley, and we will continue to work with these authorities in evaluating the safest course of action regarding future operations. If feasible, our galleries may reopen in April. As this is a developing situation, we recommend checking back with bampfa.org for the latest updates.
Visitors who have purchased tickets to upcoming BAMPFA screenings or events may receive a refund after our box office reopens. To request a refund, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a voicemail at (510) 642-1412. Please do not send credit card information via email.
Many of you have reached out to BAMPFA with concerns about the financial impact that this closure will have on our artists, students, and staff. We’re grateful for this concern, and we invite anyone who wishes to do so to share their support by visiting https://bampfa.org/support.
We recognize that this is a difficult and stressful time, and our thoughts are with everyone in our community who may be at risk from COVID-19. We encourage everyone to abide by the Shelter in Place directives, which you can learn more about here.
Even though our doors may be temporarily closed, BAMPFA continues to stand with our community as we work together to navigate this disruption. We wish everyone health and safety, and we hope to welcome you back to the museum soon.
