From Collective Isolation: Tongo Eisen-Martin
While the COVID-19 pandemic has put BAMPFA’s long-running poetry reading series on hold, we’re presenting online readings from some of our favorite poets. We've invited them to read recent work that speaks to our current moment of isolation.
Tongo Eisen-Martin reads “I Do Not Know the Spelling of Money” and “The Chicago Prairie Fire.”
Tongo Eisen-Martin was born in San Francisco and earned his MA at Columbia University. He is the author of Heaven Is All Goodbyes (City Lights, 2017), which received an American Book Award and a California Book Award, was named a National California Booksellers Association Poetry Book of the Year, and was shortlisted for the Griffin International Poetry Prize in 2018.
