ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Los Angeles–based artist Candice Lin's new body of work explores themes of colonial history, the artist’s response to the social conditions of COVID-19, and the companionship of cats. This immersive multisensory installation includes a hand-dyed indigo tent, ceramic sculptures, plaster and concrete “tactile theaters,” a video animation of a digital cat that leads visitors through qigong breathing and movement exercises, and the artist's pandemic journal. It also includes a selection of classical Buddhist artworks, which were handpicked by the artist as historical reference for her surreal and macabre imagery.
