  • Superior Elegy and Sneak Preview

    • Tuesday, December 2 7:30 pm

Travis Wilkerson in Person. Politically committed and visually striking, Travis Wilkerson's films combine sophistication and elegance with raw urgency. On tonight's program are a document of a musical tribute to a Minnesota man murdered at age 25; and a sneak preview of Wilkerson's first fiction film, The Price of Copper, shot in Butte, Montana.

  • Light-on-Light: Projection Performance

    • Tuesday, November 25 7:30 pm

Luis Recoder in Performance. Local artist Recoder takes over the projection booth for a special site-specific performance. Experimenting with a mobile frame, using water to redirect light, and even dispensing with film altogether, Recoder revels in the essence of cinema and opens up the relationship between spectator and screen.

  • No and Goshogaoka

    • Tuesday, November 18 7:30 pm

Sharon Lockhart in Person. The films of renowned Los Angeles artist Lockhart are choreographed in their movement, modernist in their sensibility, and ethnographic in detail. These works made in Japan-one an exploration of landscape and labor, the other a mesmerizing study of girls' motions while playing basketball-are both rigorous and utterly pleasurable.
