Mondays at 7 p.m., through May 13
Introduced by Linda Williams
Professor Linda Williams is Director of the Film Studies Program and author of Hard Core: Power, Pleasure and the Frenzy of the Visible and Playing the Race Card: Melodramas of Black and White from Uncle Tom to O.J. Simpson. In her introductions to the film programs she will consider the history of the representation of the sex act in cinema, looking particularly at the sixties and seventies, across a range of cinematic forms from avant-garde film to Hollywood standards to blaxploitation. Please be warned that the very subject of this series means the films present some graphic sexual materials.
Cinema and the Sex Act is presented through the spring semester in association with a course taught in the Film Studies Program by Professor Williams.
