In its sixth year, the Women of Color Film Festival is a celebration of the diverse spectrum of films being created by women of color. Our aim is to provide a forum for both emerging and established artists to share their work with the community. Although our focus is on recent work, this year's festival includes several strong rediscoveries. The 2001 festival was curated by UC Berkeley students Mona Atia (Business Administration), Irene Avetyan (Political Economy of Industrial Societies), Linda Charmaraman (Human Development and Education), Nirmala Nataraj (English and Anthropology), Rebecca Payne (Film Studies), and Alisa Charoen-Phol (English). The Women of Color Film Project is an ASUC-sponsored UC Berkeley student initiative and is cosponsored by the Empowering Women of Color Conference and the YWCA at UC Berkeley; it is a program of The Time of Your Life: Enhancing Student Engagement with the Arts, supported by a grant from The Pew Charitable Trusts. The Women of Color Film Project would like to thank the Chancellor's Student Activity Fund, Graduate Assembly, ASUC Mini-grants Fund, Asian Pacific Student Development Office, and Pacific Film Archive for their support.Note: The 16th annual Empowering Women of Color Conference will be held all day Saturday, March 3 on the UC campus.
