Curator's Talk: Lisa Sutcliffe on The San Quentin Project

Join exhibition curator Lisa Sutcliffe for a walkthrough of The San Quentin Project: Nigel Poor and the Men of San Quentin State Prison, focusing on artist Poor’s evolving collaboration with residents of San Quentin—work that began with mapping exercises in a visual art course and culminated in the critically acclaimed podcast Ear Hustle.

Sutcliffe is Herzfeld Curator of Photography and Media Arts at the Milwaukee Art Museum, where the exhibition originated. Other exhibitions she has organized include Sara Cwynar: Image Model Muse; Kahlil Joseph: Black Mary; Rineke Dijkstra: Rehearsals; and Postcards from America: Milwaukee. Prior to joining the Milwaukee Art Museum in 2013, she served as assistant curator in the photography department at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
