Dream Fields with Nkiruka Oparah
Programmed by Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo
Using repetition, drawing, and collage, explore how we can use our dreams to illuminate alternative nonlinear timelines, access collective and ancestral knowledge, and map inner landscapes. First-generation Nigerian American artist, curator, and writer Nkiruka Oparah shares practical tools for sustaining a dream practice, as well as plants and herbs that can support self-integration and recentering.
Nkiruka Oparah lives and works in Oakland. She earned her BS in psychology from the University of Georgia and her MFA from California College of the Arts. Her work has been exhibited at BRIC Arts, AC Institute, and SVA gallery in New York, and recently at Land and Sea Gallery and Nook Gallery in Oakland. She has also exhibited at Goodman Gallery in Cape Town, the Southbank Centre in London, and Ford Foundation in Lagos, Nigeria.
