Cardboard Sculpture with Grace Rosario Perkins

Using cardboard and printed materials, work alongside artist Grace Rosario Perkins to create abstract or representational objects and contribute to a collaborative group sculpture.

Based in Oakland and New Mexico, Grace Rosario Perkins has spent most of her life moving among city centers, the Navajo Nation, and the Gila River Indian Community. She is interested in disassembling her personal narrative and reassembling it as one that layers words, objects, faces, signifiers, and sound built from cultural dissonance, language, and history. Perkins is one of the founders of Black Salt Collective, an art collective of women of color that has been nominated for SFMOMA’s SECA Award, received an Art Matters grant, and had work exhibited internationally.
