Berkeley Ballet Theater and San Francisco Girls Chorus copresent excerpts from their new collaborative production, Rightfully Ours, featuring seven choreographers and composers with direction by SFGC Artistic Director and Conductor Valérie Sainte-Agathe and BBT Artistic Director Robert Dekkers. As the centennial of the passage of the 19th Amendment approaches, Rightfully Ours addresses both the progress that the suffragist movement represented and the systemic discrimination that remains unresolved today. Performed by the next generation of artists in these two youth organizations, Rightfully Ours explores the strength of the individual, the interconnectedness of the collective, and the potential every person carries to make a meaningful impact in the world.
