Touch Bass is a collaboration between choreographer Risa Jaroslow and bassist/composer Lisa Mezzacappa, featuring three bassists, three dancers, and three basses. The interactions among the dancers and musicians, the music and the movement, the people and the basses are tender, awkward, funny—as wide ranging as all relationships.

While their appearance in our Full series has been postponed until 2021, we are pleased to offer this special streaming presentation of an archived performance by Touch Bass. Jaroslow and Mezzacappa will give a live introduction and return after the performance to take questions from viewers.

The archived performance features dancers Brendan Barthel, Tara McArthur, and Lauren Simpson along with bassists Lisa Mezzacappa, Eric Perney, and Matt Small. It was recorded at the ODC Theater in San Francisco in 2017.
