Curating Hans Hofmann: The Nature of Abstraction with Lucinda Barnes

BAMPFA Curator Emerita Lucinda Barnes will discuss the life and legacy of Hans Hofmann and detail the process of curating the museum’s major retrospective of Hofmann’s work. Barnes was formerly chief curator and director of programs and collections at BAMPFA, where she organized or co-organized more than forty exhibitions, including Measure of Time; Human/Nature: Artists Respond to a Changing Planet; Indeterminate Stillness: Looking at Whistler; American Wonder: Folk Art from the Collection; and Creation in Form and Color: Hans Hofmann, currently on tour in Europe.
