Adaptation and Transformation with Mary Zimmerman and Stan Lai

Playwright and director Mary Zimmerman joins Arts + Design Thursdays series cocurator Stan Lai to discuss adaptation as a theatrical method, on the occasion of the staging of Zimmerman’s play Metamorphoses at Berkeley Rep.

Zimmerman specializes in the adaptation of classical texts for the stage, and her plays, including Metamorphoses, The Secret in the Wings (based on fairy tales), and The Odyssey, are produced more than 100 times each year around the world. Based in Chicago, she was a 1998 recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship and received the 2002 Tony Award and Obie for Best Director for Metamorphoses.
