    Born in Santiago, Chile, and a California resident for thirty-five years, artist Gonzalo Hidalgo explores and teaches traditional arts and rituals and specializes in sustainable practices. He has worked with rural and indigenous communities in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Peru, Portugal, Mexico, Spain, Germany, and Pakistan, as well as the US. He holds a BFA in printmaking and new genres from the San Francisco Art Institute and an MA in cultural ecology and sustainable communities from New College of California.

Take an inspiring and interactive walk through Cecilia Vicuña’s found-object Precarios sculptures and her poetry, then work with wood, paint, words, and one another in a family- and community-focused creative exchange led by artist Gonzalo Hidalgo.

About Gallery + Studio
On the second Saturday of each month, Gallery + Studio connects art viewing with art making in ways that engage both young people and their grown-ups. Each two-part workshop integrates an interactive gallery tour with a related art project, and lasts about an hour and a half. Sign up on site beginning fifteen minutes before the session you wish to attend. Space is limited to twelve kids per session; please arrive promptly to sign up.
