Curator Joel Smith on Peter Hujar

Joel Smith, curator of photography at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York and organizer of Peter Hujar: Speed of Life, speaks about Hujar's compelling work. His presentation includes a screening of Peter Hujar: Immersion, a fifteen-minute montage of images from some of the 5,700 contact sheets in the Peter Hujar collection at the Morgan, set to an original musical score.

Following the presentation, Sandra Phillips, adjunct senior curator of photography at BAMPFA and senior curator of photography emeritus at SFMOMA, joins Smith in conversation.

Note: Photography critic Vince Aletti, originally scheduled to participate in conversation with Smith, is no longer able to attend.
