Jill McLennan documents her constantly changing urban environment in paintings and mixed-media artworks that explore history, industry, and urban nature, imbued with a hopeful, futuristic vision. She is the director of JMAC: Jill McLennan Arts & Community and a member of the artist-run Mercury 20 Gallery in Oakland.

View photographs in Unlimited: Recent Gifts from the William Goodman and Victoria Belco Photography Collection and think about the stories they tell. Then use drawing and collage to illustrate a story from your own life, highlighting the elements—such as people, places, symbols, or colors—that tell the story best.

About Gallery + Studio
On the second Saturday of each month, Gallery + Studio connects art viewing with art making in ways that engage both young people and their grown-ups. Each two-part workshop integrates an interactive gallery tour with a related art project, and lasts about an hour and a half. Sign up on site beginning fifteen minutes before the session you wish to attend. Space is limited to twelve kids per session; please arrive promptly to sign up.
