Livestream: Our Stories, Our Sounds

A group of young Bay Area performing artists, recent alumni of the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts program Giannmarcos “Yaya” Escobar, Essa Vilanue, Maria Figueroa, and Kalin Freeman (KJ Focus), present their new work in progress, a fifteen-minute video opera. As part of their collaboration on The Electronic Lover, writer Beth Lisick and composer Lisa Mezzacappa mentored these emerging artists in a multidisciplinary opera intensive, guiding them in the creation of a new work that “hacks” the idea of traditional classical opera.

The Electronic Lover is supported by the Gerbode Foundation, InterMusic SF and the City of Berkeley Civic Grants program. The Opera Intensive Workshop is supported by InterMusic SF’s Cypress Award and the East Bay Center for the Arts.
