Ricardo Aleixo: Performance and Conversation

Brazilian poet and performer Ricardo Aleixo presents his work “FESTIM & The Others: Thirty Years of Intermedial Travels,” as part of his residency at UC Berkeley. Following his performance, the artist will be interviewed by curator Bernardo Mosquiera.

Ricardo Aleixo is a Brazilian intermedia artist-performer, poet, and editor. His work mixes poetry, visual arts, video, dance, performance, music and sound design. His most recent books of poems, Extraquadro (Impressões de Minas) and Diário da encruza (Organismo) were published in 2020. He develops his creative and research projects at LIRA / Laboratório Interartes Ricardo Aleixo and KORA / Kombo Roda Afrotópica, both situated in the neighborhood of Campo Alegre, the periphery of Belo Horizonte. 

Bernardo Mosqueira is a curator and writer based in New York. He is the ISLAA Curatorial Fellow at the New Museum, the founder and artistic director of Solar dos Abacaxis (Rio de Janeiro), and the director of the Prêmio FOCO ArtRio (Rio de Janeiro).
