    Indira Urrutia

    Indira Urrutia is a Chilean-born and US-raised artist and educator, and the cofounder of several art education initiatives. Through her passion for teaching, she transmits the importance of free artistic expression in a safe environment and guides students in an experimental approach.

A través de su pasión por la docencia, transmite la importancia de la libre expresión artística en un entorno seguro y guía a los estudiantes hacia un enfoque experimental.

“This is a landscape, this is the world, this is all you have, this is your home, this is where you live.” Artist Luchita Hurtado made paintings that explored the boundaries between the self and the natural world. In I Live Here, her mural for BAMPFA’s Art Wall, she used horizon lines and text to create a landscape that expressed her commitment to the environment. In this workshop, explore unique visual perspectives with Indira Urrutia. Then, incorporate parts of yourself and your world into a landscape that expresses something about you!

Materials and preparation

Please gather and prepare these materials before our session:

  • felt-tip or thick Sharpie markers (black)
  • crayons (all colors)
  • a large brown-paper bag (grocery-store sized)
  • scissors
  • a tray of whatever fruits and/or vegetables you have around the house on the day of the workshop
