Young readers are invited to read aloud to each other from the opening pages of Beverly Cleary’s book The Mouse and the Motorcycle. We will read from on-screen text for about forty-five minutes. A few days later, children who participated in the session will get a copy of the book in the mail to continue reading at home. Ralph is no ordinary mouse. He loves the tumult of the city. That’s why he usually goes to the other side of the wall of the hotel room where he lives with his family to seek adventure. One day, a boy named Keith arrives at the hotel. Right away, Ralph notices that the boy has a miniature motorcycle. As soon as Ralph sees it, he thinks the little bike was made especially for him. Is there anything a motorized mouse won’t be able to do? Enjoy reading this imaginative adventure with other kids!
